Social AI Experiment

Welcome to my experiment on using AI to create content for YouTube!

Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll be starting a new YouTube channel and adding content that’s all generated by AI using various free platforms. My goal is to test the feasibility of using AI to create content, and to see how it potentially impacts YouTube’s algorithm.

I want to be upfront and say that I’m not very technical, so I’ll be using platforms that are easy to use and are free. My plan is to use chatGPT to come up with story lines and other platforms to create the videos and voiceovers.

If you’ve been on YouTube lately, you’ve probably seen a lot of videos claiming that you can make a lot of money overnight using AI and chatGPT. But how is that possible if you don’t meet Google’s criteria for monetization? That’s one of the questions I hope to answer with this experiment.

I’ll be posting a new AI-generated video once a week for the next 12 weeks, and I’ll provide a weekly update on the content and tools used to create it. I’ll also be keeping track of the growth of the channel, if any.

To meet YouTube’s requirements for monetization, I need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours, and I can’t have any community strikes. Fortunately, I’ve already met the first requirement by starting a new channel.

If you find this experiment interesting, please like it and share! I’ll be posting updates on the progress of the channel here, so stay tuned.

  • Why I’m doing this experiment: In addition to answering the question of whether it’s possible to make money using AI on YouTube, I’m also interested in exploring the potential of AI as a content creation tool. While it’s clear that AI can’t replace human creativity and talent, it could potentially help with certain aspects of content creation, such as coming up with ideas or generating text. By conducting this experiment, I hope to gain a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of AI in the context of YouTube content creation.

  • The platforms I’ll be using: While I haven’t decided on all of the platforms I’ll be using yet, I plan to use chatGPT to generate story lines and ideas for videos. I’ll also be looking into other AI tools that can help with video editing, voiceovers, and other aspects of the production process. I’ll be sure to provide details on the specific platforms I use in my weekly updates.
  • The content I’ll be creating: While I haven’t finalized my content plan yet, I’m thinking about creating a variety of videos, including educational, entertaining, and informative content. I’ll be experimenting with different types of videos to see which ones perform the best and receive the most engagement.

  • The challenges I expect to face: One of the biggest challenges I expect to face is creating high-quality content that engages viewers and meets YouTube’s standards. While AI can certainly help with generating ideas and text, it can’t replace the creativity and talent that goes into creating great content. I also expect to face challenges in terms of promotion and getting the channel off the ground, as well as navigating YouTube’s algorithm and requirements for monetization.

  • How I’ll measure success: In addition to tracking the growth of the channel and the number of subscribers and watch hours, I’ll also be paying close attention to the engagement and retention of viewers. I’ll be looking at metrics such as likes, comments, and shares to see how well the content resonates with viewers. I’ll also be monitoring the revenue generated by the channel, if any, to see how well the AI-generated content performs in terms of monetization.
